Ubuntu Naming Convention A-Z

It occurred to me this morning while reading the rumour of Ubuntu 7.06 being called "Feisty Fawn" that the Ubuntu naming conventions are inconsistent at best. It *looks* alphabetic, but it just isn't, Warty Warthog, Hoary Hedgehog, Breezy Badger, Dapper Drake, Edgy Eft, Feisty Fawn... Not only does "Fawn" translate into "Fag" in Brazilian but I long for a consistent naming convention. Updated: - that 'fag' comment is incorrect, and it's Portugese spoken in Brazil.

While some of my associates dislike the Ubuntu naming conventions I find them charming and light hearted in a way that can only help establish brand image. But it does bother me that they can't stick to a strict alphabetical scheme! I assume this is because they have problems finding appropriate names...

So, I have devised my own spanning the entire alphabet (using the existing names where applicable):

ubuntu Alliterating Aardvark
Breezy Badger
Chronic Caterpillar
Dapper Drake
Edgy Eft
Feisty Fawn
Gregarious Goat
Hoary Hedgehog
Ignited Ibis
Jumping Jaguar
Knocked Kitten
Lifeless Lemming (probably not a popular release)
Massive Mole
Naughty Newt
Operational Ostrich
Prosperous Panda
Questionable Quail
Rambunctious Rat
Stupendous Snake
Tricky Toad
Ubiquitous Uacari (they exist, view a picture here)
Versatile Vulture
Warty Warthog
X ? whatever! UPDATE X-Rayed Xenops (nice work Brian)
Yummy Yak
Zealous Zebra

While I doubt that Ubuntu would pick it up, those seem to be reasonable suggestions.

Do you have a better one? If so, comment it up.

I find some objectionable...

... Hoary Hedgehog sounds like "Whorey..."... and

"Knocked Kitten" sounds like "Pregnant Pussy".

Great Naming.. maybe i will ask you a suggestion for YouLinux Distribution (www.youlinux.org) in the near future.

Ok so only how many more releases will Ubuntu have before reaching the End of the distribution lifecycle because they run out of alphabet letters?

I like the Rambunctious (whatever it means) Rat a lot.
Fawn isn’t a word in Portuguese (the Brazillian language doesn’t exist)...
J.Monteiro
For the L release I recommend Lofty Llama, muche better than a Lifeless Lemming. :-)
Craig
Fawn, as it is written and pronounced is NOT associated with homosexuality in Brazil, although the animal (dear) is associalted. However, one does not expect that each and ever culture, with it’s intricacies and nuances, will be known. Give them a break, this naming isn’t even official. Then again, in Brazil people do not speak "brazilian", they speak portuguese.
Cheers.

I like Precocious Penguin better than Precious P.

Sorry to spoil your fun but here is an explanation to the naming scheme and why they didn’t start going alphabetically before Dapper. It also contains the official listing of possible "adjectives + animals" sorted by letter. You’ll probably find most of your suggestions are already there:
