This is one of the reasons IE6 is still so prominent; legacy corporate infrastructure always bottlenecks these things. Vista will still be around and MS are going to continue supporting XP, but I'm expecting a more vibrant reception for 7.
At least they've got their pricing structure sorted out this time.
I'm not sure how big of a "sudden reduction" Windows 7 will cause in XP users, I can see a lot of techies moving over from XP, but the vast majority of XP systems i would assume are corporate and in the current economic climate especialy, i cant see too many organisations rushing to roll out Windows 7 too quickly. There are also the non-techie current XP users who probably havent even heard of Windows 7 who will likely only upgrade if they buy a new PC with it preloaded.
I'm not sure Vista will continue to climb, I think Vista has probably more or less reached its peak now. It wont be long until practically all new PCs will be preloaded with Windows 7 so no new Vista users from people buying new PCs. Current XP users wanting to upgrade OS are likely to go straight to Windows 7 and skip Vista and then you have got those currently on Vista who will upgrade to Windows 7, if anything Vista users may start to decrease in the next 6 months.
Something in their stat collection is broken, or (and I suspect this might be possible considering the numbers involved) they've introduced an IE6 bug into their code... Users just don't change computers that fast.
